Glenkens Community Action Plan
Published by the Glenkens and District Trust in 2021 and envisioned as a road map for the whole community for the following 5 years, the Community Action Plan (CAP) for the Glenkens & District has been instrumental in ensuring that wind farm funds drive the delivery of community needs and aspirations in the area.
The 2021 action plan covers the Balmaghie, New Galloway & Kells, Dalry, Balmaclellan, Corsock & KPD, Parton and Crossmichael Community Council areas and sets out an overall goal that the Glenkens will be a connected, resilient and carbon neutral place, where people will want to live, to work, to visit, to bring up their families, and to grow old.
The Community Action Plan is owned by the CAP Steering Group, made up of volunteers who ensure community needs are being met and is delivered for the community by the Glenkens Community and Arts Trust (GCAT) and funded by Glenkens & District Trust.
Now nearing the end of the 5 year plan, external contexts and local needs have evolved significantly and work to refresh the plan has begun.
This will consist of:
An initial stage of data gathering and analysis by a local researcher.
A second stage of community engagement and the creation of the Glenkens CAP 2026 by an external researcher.
