Participatory Monitoring of Land Use in the Glenkens

Dalry Community Council with GCAT commissioned three complementary reports studying Land Use and Local Place Planning in the Glenkens. The studies were funded by SoSE and Nature Scot, to set out the next steps required to embed land use considerations in the Glenkens into the medium term.

This report details Participatory Monitoring of Land Use in the Glenkens incorporating:

  • Community engagement into what creative participatory monitoring could look like.

  • Engagement with Glenkens communities in a creative manner to understand the values they associate with landscape and how they can be monitored.

  • Design of a participatory monitoring framework to document landscape change over time.

  • A final report summarizing the community engagement process and outputs, detailing the proposed participatory monitoring framework and setting out clear and costed next steps to create the framework.

  • Costed recommendations for a medium-term framework of participatory monitoring that will document landscape change over time.
