Response to DGC Budget Consultation 2025

CAP SG Response to DCG Budget Consultation

November 2025: The Glenkens Community Action Plan Steering Group has put forward a response to the D&G Council 2026/27 Budget consultation, due to the disproportionate effect of the proposed cuts on rural communities, children and young people, and other vulnerable people across the region.

It highlights the apparent lack of strategy behind the proposals with respect to rural depopulation, and asks why other proposals such as reductions to senior management and rationalisation of the four Dumfries High Schools don't seem to be being considered in these difficult times.

The Glenkens communities are ready to partner with the Council to find new ways of meeting our regional challenges - but this must be done together based on agreed regional strategies, not tactically or disproportionately.
