The Glenkens Hub was catalysed by the Glenkens & District Community Action Plan and was initially conceived as an Events Calendar & sister project to the Glenkens Gazette. The capital build and the first 2 years of delivery (to end 2024) were funded by the Glenkens & District Community Benefit Fund and the Galloway Glens scheme.

After initial development work through 2022 by Sarah Ade, including the capital build of the website by Greater Govanhill and volunteer work by Oli Sturm to render the Gazette archive searchable, Gail Challis started in post as Glenkens Hub Digital Editor in January 2023. Since then, it has become a key resource for the community. The 2023 Annual Report sets out its delivery over the year and the plans for the evolution of the site in 2024 and beyond.
