Glenkens Hub 2025 Report
The Glenkens Hub has now completed three years of delivery to end 2025, funded by the Glenkens & District Community Fund through the Glenkens and District Trust and Foundation Scotland, and the Galloway Glens Landscape Partnership Scheme.
Like the Glenkens Gazette, it is a GCAT project and is supported by the volunteer Gazette Steering Group as well as the GCAT staff and Board. It is managed by the Glenkens Hub Digital Editor (8 hours/week role).
Key outcomes of the Glenkens Hub are:
Bringing communities together via shared calendar events and regular activities.
Enhancing community resilience through access to key information.
Strengthening the sustainability of local groups and businesses with dedicated webpages, news articles and social media promotion.
Providing a permanent home for community resources such as reports and studies, the Galloway Glens archive and copyright-free photographs.
Promoting community development such as Local Place Plans
Highlighting issues of local importance such as land use, education, housing and transport.
The website aims to be a free to use ‘shop-front’ for living and working in the Glenkens, helping residents to feel more connected to their place, assisting business to promote themselves and aiding organisations to promote Glenkens’ priorities to regional and national stakeholders.
The report contains details of key usage data and community engagement.
