The former Greystones public house in Carsphairn, which has been closed for over 15 years, is currently being offered for sale via auction. Carsphairn Village Shop Ltd (CVSL) is actively exploring the opportunity to purchase the property and re-open it as a community owned public house (pub) and social hub, operating in a similar community focused way to the village shop and café.

CVSL volunteers are the team behind the recent Carsphairn Village Shop refurbishment (re-opening soon) and are looking for support from the community for this exciting project to revitalise facilities in the village. The proposal aligns closely with the Carsphairn Local Place Plan (https://www.carsphairn.org/LPP), which identifies the need for improved community facilities and social infrastructure within the community, including opportunities that strengthen local connection, wellbeing, and economic resilience.

In addition, a recent pre-application enquiry with the local planning authority has confirmed support in principle for the reopening of the building as a public house, subject to detailed design and technical considerations. This provides a strong planning foundation for the proposal.

The intention is to restore Greystones as a multi-use community asset that would:
