Volunteers sought for the first tree planting day at the Upper Barr Community Woodland
Volunteers are sought to come and try their hand at tree planting, and can hear more about plans on the site. Tree Planting will be between 11am-3pm on Saturday 15th June, with light lunch provided for those on site at lunchtime!

The latest feature-length documentary from ‘Scotland: The Big Picture’ has been touring the country in recent months and is coming to the CatStrand on 6th June at 7.30pm.
D&G Climate Hub - Supporting local climate action
The new D&G Climate Hub has been off to a busy start since its November 2023 launch. This is a Scottish Government funded initiative hosted by the Galloway and Southern Ayrshire Biosphere. Climate officer Sarah Thomas is covering Wigtownshire and Stewartry supporting community climate action, while Annandale & Eskdale and Nithsdale is covered by climate officer Steven Clark.

Groups across the Glenkens have been hard at work to turn the Glenkens Land Use Vision into reality.
My Loch Ken...
It’s 6:30am and, armed with my tow float, I take a deep breath and plunge into the ice cold loch. Frost twinkles as the water laps all around as I swim. I feel clarity and calm. It’s stunning, so peaceful, yet 100% invigorating.
