Glenkens Archive launches for Gazette anniversary

We're delighted to be able to say that the Glenkens Archive in now live, just in time for the Gazette's 150th edition and 25th Anniversary!

Currently holding all the Gazette back issues and Galloway Glens Landscape Partnership documents, the Archive will eventually also be a repository for photographs, recordings and documents from projects and organisations across the Glenkens.

You can browse the latest items, have a look at collated collections or visit online exhibitions where more context is given surrounding items. There is also a map where records pertaining to a specific location can be found.

It's easy to search inside records and to give you a taste, why not try our fun Headlines Quiz!

Go to the Glenkens Archive here: https://glenkensarchive.scot.

Use the search bar at the top of each page to find which issue the following headlines came from.

  1. New Surgery to Open

  2. CatStrand Home and Dry At Last

  3. A Concert on the Loch

  4. Fond Farewell to Gazette Founder

  5. Red Alert

Try using the Advanced Search if you get stuck or have a look through the Gazette collection or exhibit for inspiration.

The first person to email the Gazette (glenkensgazette@hotmail.co.uk) with correct answers wins a £30 voucher for the CatStrand. Good luck!
