Fun and games with the Glenkens Youth Group

There has been a lot of creativity at the Glenkens Youth Group over the past few months.

The members often choose to paint or draw, and they are a very talented group. The space is always filled with music, with their own playlist setting the scene. An informal sing-a-long is a common occurrence!

We are very grateful to the Glenkens Community Centre in Dalry for the opportunity to use the kitchen facilities. Over the winter the young people baked beautiful fresh crunchy bread, dancing and singing as they baked. An evening of hot chocolate and marshmallows warmed the hands, a great way to stave off the cold dark days. There have also been some epic games of badminton.

The final session of 2023 took place at the CatStrand, where youth group members enjoyed their Christmas party. Delicious food, amazing music and dancing, and an impromptu karaoke.

We look forward to all that is to come for this wonderful group in 2024. Future immediate plans include orienteering and laser tag. If you are in P7 to S3, why not come and join this fantastic group of young people? They will make you feel most welcome and you can enjoy an environment in which you can be yourself.

Thanks to our funding from the Glenkens and District Community Fund, it’s free. The Glenkens Youth Group meets on Monday evenings in Dalry from 7pm. Find us on Facebook or contact Beata on glenkensyouth@gmail.com for more details.
