St Margaret's raises funds for Castle Douglas Hospital

The St Margaret’s Church Guild presented a cheque for £400 to Castle Douglas Hospital League of Friends.

Members of the Castle Douglas Hospital League of Friends being presented with the £400 cheque by Christine Rankin, President of St Margaret’s Guild.

The bulk of the money was raised at the St Margaret’s tombola at the Alternative Games in August, and then supplemented by Guild funds.

Christine Rankin said that “my mother received exemplary care when staying in Castle Douglas hospital and it is nice to be able to contribute to their funds. All of our members know someone who has benefitted from the work of the hospital's League of Friends”.

Isabel Anderson, chair of the Castle Douglas Hospital League of Friends, was delighted to receive the donation. She explained that the Covid pandemic had adversely affected their work, much of which involves visiting patients in hospital which was not allowed for a long time.

“This generous donation came just as we are planning a New Year campaign to attract new volunteers now that we are allowed to visit again”.

The money will go towards extra equipment for the hospital as well as Christmas presents for the patients.
