Music for all at the Carsphairn seniors' dinner

Carsphairn Community Council organised a festive meal for the senior members of the community in the Lagwyne Hall in December.

Nick and Sam at Carsphairn Seniors’ Dinner

Although Carsphairn is a small community numbering fewer than 200, residents are spread out over a large area and the dinner presents opportunities at a seasonal event to meet friends and acquaintances not regularly seen, and to welcome mature newcomers to the community.

A delicious three-course meal was served, followed by a raffle raising £100 in support of Carsphairn children's Christmas party. After the meal there was a concert, which was open to the whole community, with Nick Jenkins on fiddle and mandolin and Sam Gillespie on guitar, flute and vocals. This excellent performance finished off a thoroughly enjoyable evening, which has received much positive feedback from those who attended.
