There is currently an exciting opportunity for residents of the Glenkens looking to set up as childminders. Eligible candidates will be supported in becoming registered childminders by accessing a host of free benefits including:

• Scottish Childminding Association (SCMA) induction support programme

• Tailored and personal support sessions from SCMA’s dedicated Childminding Development Support Officers

• SCMA policy toolkit comprising guidance and templates

• Start-up package of training courses: Business Side ofChildminding, Child Protection in a Childminding Setting and Parental Involvement

• On completion of registration with the Care Inspectorate and HMRC, a £1,000 start-up grant

You can find out more about the process at a no-commitment Information Event at the Smiddy in Balmaclellan on 27 Feb – just drop in any time between 4-6pm to meet SCMA staff and find out more. Crechefacilities will be available. Glenkens Community & Arts Trust’s Connecting in Communities (CiC) team is supporting the SCMA in this campaign, as part of their grant from the Blackcraig Community Benefit Fund.
