Egg-cellent Easter Fun in Carsphairn
Local Glenkens children’s group Bairn Banter, along with Carsphairn Heritage Centre, organised an egg-cellent fun-filled weekend of free Easter-themed activities.
Children of all ages from across the Glenkens gathered in eager anticipation for an Easter egg hunt in Carsphairn Primary School playground. Once all the eggs had been found, the fun continued with a children’s egg and spoon race followed by a very competitive adult’s race!
Having built up quite an appetite, the group moved on to Lagwyne Hall for hot cross buns, fruit, teas/coffees and other refreshments provided by Bairn Banter volunteers.
Alongside Easter eggs provided by Bairn Banter, South Kyle windfarm also donated chocolate eggs for the children to enjoy.
After the wholesome refuel, families then visited the wonderful and educational exhibition that was displayed at Carsphairn Heritage Centre. Children were able to enjoy egg decorating while learning about some traditional dyeing methods from times gone by; different flowers, beetroot and even onion skins were common ways of making colourful Easter eggs before the times of modern paints and felt-tip pens!
