Easter Egg-citement in Carsphairn

Children of Carsphairn and the wider Glenkens enjoyed an egg-citing Easter fun day in Carsphairn on Saturday 30th March.

Kicking off the Easter weekend, the volunteer run group, Bairn Banter invited children of all ages to attend the free annual event, held in the Carsphairn Primary School playground. Commencing at 10am, the children eagerly searched the playground high and low to find the chocolate eggs, before claiming their bonus large egg, kindly donated by the Vattenfall company. Continuing with the egg themed activities, the children (and adults) enjoyed the competitive egg and spoon race, followed by the ‘bunny bag’ race!

The group of Glenkens families then paraded along the village towards Lagwyne Hall, where the volunteering parents from Bairn Banter provided a much needed snack for the children and adults, consisting of hot cross buns, fruit, juice and warm beverages for the grown-ups.

As part of a collaboration with the local children’s group, Carsphairn Heritage Initiative (CHI) also opened their doors to the public on Saturday. The recently revamped museum hosted a wonderful exhibition with a selection of children’s activities and an informative experience which invited visitors to learn more about their local history.

The Chair of CHI, Ben Ade said “It was great to see so many people of all ages enjoying the museum, a great day was had by all”.
