Carsphairn SWI Christmas Quiz

On 1st December 2025 Lavinia, Alison, Nancy, Dorothy, Christine and Merle set off to Dalbeattie for the annual Stewartry SWI Christmas Quiz. The venue was Dalbeattie Town Hall and it was absolutely buzzing with chatter and laughter as everyone gathered.

Around eighteen teams took part and there were many and varied Christmas jumpers and festive hats to admire. The quiz consisted of six rounds which included topics young and old, near and far as well as pictorial and audio. The Carsphairn team were mystified that none of them got the theme tune to the television programme ‘Vera’ which most of them have watched repeatedly! There was a break in the middle where everyone enjoyed tea, coffee, shortbread and mince pies.

As the final count was being done, everyone was getting their raffle tickets ready for the draw. The results were announced, in third place Rhonehouse, in second place Haugh of Urr and taking the trophy this year presented by Lesley Malcomson, Stewartry President, was Carsphairn. Congratulations to the successful teams and a big ‘Thank you!’ to everyone who contributed to the evening in any way.
