Another chance to see The Glenkens Story Anniversary celebration

If you missed the chance to attend The Glenkens Story’s 10th Anniversary Celebrations on March 23rd (or would like to see them again) they now appear on the CatStrand’s You Tube platform.

Part 1  features the memorable lecture by our guest speaker Dr Adrián Maldonado of Museums Scotland on the latest research on the Galloway Hoard. Stunningly illustrated, his lecture revealed links between the Silk Road to China...and Balmaghie, as well as the revelation that an inscription on part of the hoard suggests it belongs “to the community”.

Part 2 features the second part of the afternoon with shorter presentations by Dr Lizanne Henderson on preserving the legacy of the late Professor Ted Cowan’s writings on the Glenkens and Dr Jo Miller on the latest discoveries of local songs and tunes. Michael Ansell and Mike Brown provide a 10 minute review of our 10 years of history-sharing and look ahead to the future.

What next for The Glenkens Story?

After celebrating its successful first 10 years The Glenkens Story local history group is taking stock for the future. Its motto is “Sharing Our History” and for this to happen we need support from people with an interest in the subject.

Please join our informal informal gathering and share your ideas and consider how you can help develop our programme over the coming years.

Sunday 27th April, 2-4pm at the CatStrand

Free, but booking recommended. Light refreshments provided. Book here: https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/catstrand/what-next-for-the-glenkens-story/e-rgmlao
