Galloway Glens Booklets

The Galloway Glens Scheme included the creation of six booklets, supporting some of the projects and initiatives undertaken during the scheme. These booklets were distributed to local libraries and outlets, and to project partners.

An e-version of the six booklets are available to download below which are:

  • Booklet 1 - Upper Gairloch: Investigations of a deserted settlement on the Raiders Road.

  • Booklet 2 - Little Hill Wood: Excavations of a prehistoric enclosure on the Threave Estate.

  • Booklet 3 - Barhill Wood, Kirkcudbright: Investigations in a historic woodland.

  • Booklet 4 - Last Flights: A history of plane crashes in the Glenkens.

  • Booklet 5 - Glenkens Place-names: A window on our past.

  • Booklet 6 - Ken Words: An anthology of writings.

The booklets were designed by Martha Schofield Design, and edited by Sarah Ade from the Glenkens Gazette.

Booklet creation was made possible thanks to the funders of the Galloway Glens Scheme, particularly the National Lottery Heritage Fund and Drax, the owners of the Galloway Hydro Scheme.
