Active travel is the most sustainable means of transport, benefiting health and wellbeing, the local economy, improving air quality and helping to combat climate change.

This Strategy document from Dumfries and Galloway Council looks at creating opportunities for walking, wheeling, cycling (or taking part in any form of active travel) across the region by integrating the work of different Council services.

It also includes an Action Plan that the Council and partnership have committed to, so action can be tracked against that.

The Strategy and its stated priorities may be a useful starting point for community groups who have an interest in this area.
