What's new on the Glenkens Hub?

The Glenkens Hub has been growing and evolving, expanding in response to feedback and demand from local voices. In this article are examples of new information and resources now available on the Hub.

GLENKENS COMMUNITIES

We have brand new Glenkens Communities pages, bringing together information about our various localities. Each community's page features:

  • quick links to Community Councils, Community Groups and Community Spaces

  • emergency information such as defibrillator locations and community contacts

  • helpful information, nearest Post Office, community website and Facebook pages

  • events and activities in the community

  • businesses and things to see and do in the area

  • news

If you see something missing from your community's page, do let us know!

HEALTH, WELFARE & ADVICE

Our Health, Welfare & Advice page has been updated and now has easy-to-find links to warm spaces, local support and financial advice, plus UK-wide resources.

REPORTS & RESOURCES ARCHIVE

Thanks to the Galloway Glens Landscape Partnership (GGLP) scheme, our resources section not only has Community Action Plan (CAP) documents, such as the Energy Efficiency in Glenkens Homes and A Vision for Land Use in the Glenkens reports, but also all the wonderful, detailed videos, booklets and 3D models created by GGLP and the Can You Dig It team during their five-year operation.

You can find the Reports & Resources Archive and jump to overviews of CAP and GGLP, or browse individual reports. Pick a dreich day and make sure you have a cuppa; there's a lot to explore!

LOCAL BUSINESS DIRECTORY

Our Local Directory is nowhere near complete but already contains nearly 100 local businesses, places to visit and things to do.

Local businesses are vital to our communities; if you'd like to be in the Directory, please email us at glenkenshub@hotmail.com or message us on Facebook @Glenkens Hub and we'll do the rest.

Survey in next Gazette

The Glenkens Hub will be one year old in April! The Gazette is asking for your views on its first year; is it doing what it was designed to do? Do you use it? Is it useful? Please think about any improvements you'd like to see and keep an eye out for the survey in the next Gazette.
