Thriving Together - Visions for Nature & Communities in South West Scotland

National Park conversations are a ‘hot’ topic at present as many of you will already know.  We feel this brings an opportunity to explore what the future for south west Scotland might look like beyond a ‘yes’ or ‘no’, whether it includes a National Park in Galloway & Ayrshire or not. What are the key priorities and visions for our communities, for nature, and for a positive future for all?  And how can we work together to achieve these goals?

Thriving Together - Leeming & Paterson

The aim of this conversation is to proactively collect visions for a positive future for south west Scotland that address known, existing and potential future issues, irrespective of whether a National Park goes ahead or not.

Anything goes, and there is no such thing as a bad idea, so have fun and allow your imagination to run riot.  And it is anonymous, so you can confidently share any thoughts you may be thinking.

There are two elements to our consultation.

1.  An Online Questionnaire

The questionnaire forms part of an independent creative consultation.  It is separate from the ongoing formal consultation process and is not linked to any campaign group.  The initiative is brought to you by Glenkens based artists Leeming + Paterson, supported through the “What We Do Now” Sparks Programme by The Stove Network, a community-based arts organisation in Dumfries.

The questionnaire will remain open for submissions until 26th January 2025.  Responses (anonymised) will then be presented to Nature Scot before the end of the formal consultation, and shared publicly, including on the What We Do Now website.

The questionnaire can be found HERE.  Have fun and we look forward to hearing from as many of you as possible.

2.  “Walking Conversations”

Meeting in the beautiful environs of the Kirroughtree Visitor Centre on 12th (10:30-13:00) & 19th January (13:00-15:30), these walking conversations will explore similar themes to those set out in the online questionnaire as we wander amount the trees and nature, before collating our thoughts in the cafe.

Please join us and join the conversation.  It’s free, though numbers are restricted so be quick.  We’d love to hear your voice.

Simply go to the Eventbrite page HERE and sign up.
