Safari Toddle Fundraising Success

Big Toddle participants assemble in car park

As part of Barnardo's flagship fundraising activity ‘The Big Toddle’, local Carsphairn children’s group has been reaching out to help children across the UK by raising money for the charity.

Saturday 17th June saw the children and adults of Bairn Banter dressing up as jungle animals and then embarking on a sponsored safari-themed walk along the streets of Carsphairn.

The group first gathered at The Lagwyne Hall, before beginning a mini ‘safari’ tour of the village. With a slight detour in search of pictures of jungle animals hidden around the Carsphairn School Playground, the ‘herd’ of parents and tots also tested their knowledge with a safari themed mini quiz.

Once back on the guided tour, the children finished their sponsored walk at The Community Garden, with a well-deserved picnic and a medal for their wonderful achievements.

Bairn Banter set up a JustGiving page to help them raise the set a target of £300.  Melissa Ade (founder of Bairn Banter) commented

“I am delighted to say that that our little group’s efforts have raised a wonderful £376!  We have received a wealth of support and lots of very generous donations to the cause. I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who donated and supported Bairn Banter to carry out this fund-raising event and it is warming to know that the money raised will make a big difference to the lives of children further afield”.
