Glenkens Community Spaces Network

Glenkens Community Spaces inaugural meeting in Balmaclellan Village Hall

Becca Nelson, the Network Facilitator, was delighted to welcome 12 stalwarts of our Village Hall, Town Hall and Kirk committees to the meeting. The members of all these committees are all volunteers, all doing great work to keep these community spaces open through thick and thin - thank you all!

This one was held at Balmaclellan Village Hall and everyone was most impressed with their facilities (particularly their beautiful library) and their ambitious plans for the future. The meeting then got down to business - the Terms of Reference for the network were adopted, the name was changed (!) and then the group split up to decide on the priorities for the Network going forward. It was a most convivial evening, and it was so impressive to see the energy and commitment of everyone who was there.

The next meetings will be:

** Thursday 16th March: SCIO status

** Tuesday 23rd May: Grant funding and reporting

** Wednesday 26th July: Community engagement

All the meetings will also include networking time, even if the topic that time isn't directly relevant to your organisation. They are open to all representatives of Glenkens & district Community Spaces who want to benefit from some peer support, some learning and access to some of Becca's time!

Becca's role is funded by the Blackcraig wind farm Community Benefit fund, administered by the Glenkens & District Trust and Foundation Scotland, in pursuit of the Glenkens & District Community Action Plan, so we thank them for their support of this important new step in bringing our communities together. Here's to the next 2 years!
