The Glenkens Community Action Plan Steering Group are working to update the Community Action Plan which was first published in 2020. The plan needs to be brought up-to-date to make sure it is still meeting the needs of the community and continues to captures our aspirations and priorities for the future.
The Steering Group published a report in March this year analysing changes in local demographics; collating needs identified in our Local Place Plans; and investigating the issues common across all areas of the region. The report asked businesses about the local factors affecting them, and asked community group about their experiences accessing funding and ways in which the new CAP could support them better. The report is available to read here: Glenkens and District Community Action Plan 2026 Refresh Local Research Report.
The first draft of the new Community Action Plan is now ready for feedback and the Steering Group have engaged Community Enterprise to host a number of drop-in sessions around our communities at the start of November.
The dates will be:
Saturday 7th November, 3pm - 5pm in Lagwyne Hall, Carsphairn.
Monday 9th November, 2pm - 4pm in New Galloway Town Hall and 4.30pm - 5.30pm in Dalry Town Hall.
Tuesday 10th November, 3pm - 5pm in Corsock Village Hall and 6pm - 8pm in Crossmichael Memorial Hall.
The Steering Group want to hear the community's ideas and get feedback on the first draft.
Now is a great time to have your say and make sure the plan truly meets our community needs!
Following this round of engagement, there will be a final session on Tuesday 8th December (timing to be confirmed) at the Catstrand in New Galloway, provisionally titled 'Festival of Ideas'. This will be a Q&A session for all communities to come together and discuss the issues in the new plan.
The Steering Group hope you'll be able to make it along to one of the sessions. Please contact Andrew at: Andrew@catstrand.com if you have any queries.
