Duncan said: “I'm blessed where I live to be surrounded by trees and, when I took the winning shot, I'd ventured out early one morning into the grounds of Kenmure Castle, outside New Galloway. A light mist had formed overnight creating the most moody scene in front of me, and some of the beech trees had hung onto their golden leaves - it was these and the soft light that drew me to take the photograph. I feel it shown the sense of calm I experienced that morning, with no-one around; just me and my camera, which I love to do often. I am absolutely thrilled to have taken first place, as well as to have two short-listed photographs."
