Consultation on the future of cottage hospitals in Kirkcudbright, Moffat, Newton Stewart and Thornhill

Dumfries & Galloway HSCP is currently undertaking public consultation on the future use of the four cottage hospitals. This consultation, which runs from 17th May to 27th September 2024, aims to set out:

  • the flexible bed approach to intermediate care i.e. care delivered away from home but not in a major hospital (approved by the Dumfries & Galloway IJB in September 2023)

  • the reasons for the review on the four cottage hospitals (where in-patient services are currently suspended)

  • the engagement undertaken so far, including the development and (non-financial) appraisal of six options on the future use of the four cottage hospitals

  • opportunities for how people and communities can ask questions and provide their views.
