Project talk and screening of Margaret Tait’s The Orquil Burn
Burn is an environmental video art project by artist John Wallace and soil scientist Professor Pete Smith. The project celebrates and explores small watercourses - burns, streams, stanks and ‘ditches’ – as the capillaries of the land and the ecosystems we depend upon.
A ongoing inspiration to the project has been Margaret Tait’s 1955 filmpoem The Orquil Burn, which documents a coastal burn near her Orkney home as it flows from its source above Orquil Farm to the sea at Scapa bay.
John and Pete will talk about their work together before a showing of Tait’s film, followed by an open discussion of issues raised.
