Unveiling of Wooden Figure on Waterside Hill

Join Dumfries & Galloway Woodlands as we unveil the Wooden Figure on her Waterside Hill bench!

Waterside sculpture

A life-size wooden sculpture has been crafted for the bench at the top of Waterside Hill. This is a chance for walkers on the Southern Upland Way to take a pause, enjoy the view and consider local stories and history of the site.

Over the last month, she has been touring the Glenkens (tour info: https://dgwoodlands.org.uk/life-size-wooden-sculpture-tours-the-glenkens-throughout-may/).

On 31st of May we will be leading a walk from Dalry Town Hall along the Southern Upland Way to the Waterside Hill Summit. We'll be joined at the top by Anne Errington, local storyteller who will give a short performance of stories. We'll also have Robert Lawrence, the sculpture's creator to give his perspective on her creation.

The Walk will start from Dalry Town Hall and will take a very leisurely pace - with frequent stops - to the Waterside Hill Summit, for unveiling and performance at 11.30am. The party will then return down the Southern Upland Way path back to Dalry Town Hall.

Total length walked = approx 2.5 miles. Following the Southern Upland Way, uneven and slightly steep in places. Please wear appropriate footwear for the terrain and dress for the weather.

Ticketed to manage numbers - please book a spot if you plan to join us. Book here: https://fienta.com/unveiling-wooden-figure.
