Looking to take your first steps into the world of lichens?
Dr Natalie Welden from the University of Glasgow's School of Social and Environmental Sustainability will be on site to introduce some of the common lichen species found across Dumfries and Galloway, both under the microscope and "in the wild".
Together we will learn and apply both the key features and simple chemical tests used in the identification of lichens, and explore the role of these symbiotic systems of fungi and algae in understanding the world around us.
