Part of Land Notes - Glenkens Festival of Land - a walk at Cuckoostone with John Wykes.
In a matter of 16 years we have attracted an unbelievable amount of wildlife to our 10 acre plot. The woodland has been planted with around 30 species of trees and that in turn has attracted many bird species. Woodland sightings also include red squirrel, pine martin and roe deer. My annual species count continues to grow. The most bizarre recent sighting was an artic tern.
I hope people will realise you don’t need a large acreage to enjoy a wealth of wildlife. The secret is a varied and rich habitat with some open water.
