Birdwatching is an activity that connects us with the natural world – the real world – stimulating wellbeing regardless of age or experience. It is an escape not from reality but to reality, and the Glenkens is a marvellous place to watch birds.
This talk begins with a brief introduction to birdwatching and what is needed to begin and pursue this absorbing and healthy pastime for the rest of our time here on earth. This is followed by an illustrated talk on special birds and special places in the Glenkens, covering some aspects of the lives of the various species, what they need and problems they face.
The talk will be followed by four seasonal guided walks in the Glenkens, where birds will be identified, enjoyed and discussed as we go along. Everyone is welcome regardless of prior experience.
This event was made possible with support from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, thanks to The National Lottery Players.
