Another dry and convoluted comedy from Wes Anderson - a bit in the style of “The Grand Budapest Hotel” or “Isle of Dogs”.
The “scheme” of the title is a decades-long and labyrinthine project devised by a ruthless billionaire, Zsa-Zsa Korda, to dominate the economy of a fictional Middle Eastern country, “Phoenicia”, through a number of interlocking ventures.
However various countries are seeking to undermine his scheme by raising the prices of essential building materials. So Korda must swindle his investors into increasing their contribution.
Meanwhile, Korda , faced with attempts on his life, decides to appoint a successor in the form of his long-estranged daughter, Liesl, who is currently a nun.
