A famous film director returns home to his native village in Sicily drawn by the news of the death of his old friend and boyhood mentor, the projectionist at the Cinema Paradiso, the social centre of the village.
Through flashback we follow his passage from boyhood to adolescence and his growing love of film guided by the old projectionist. Full of humour, tenderness and loss.
