This is a day immersed in the woods at Hensol Estate — walking, noticing, eating together around the fire as the light changes.
At the equinoxes and solstices — the four hinge points of the year — we gather to slow down, look closely, and let the land settle around us.
The day unfolds simply: we arrive mid-morning for tea and fire. Then a slow walk through the woods, pausing to notice what's underfoot, overhead, in the air. We gather for soup and bread at midday, warming through by the fire. In the afternoon, we work with what the season offers — making something small to carry home. The day closes with a seasonal reading before we part.
Each gathering includes structured time spent alone in the woods — an hour or so to sit, walk, or simply be among the trees. We don't describe this practice in advance, only offer it on the day.
You don't need to know anything about ecology or the natural world. You just need to be willing to spend a day outside in all weathers, paying attention to what's actually there.
Come alone or with someone. Come to one threshold or all four. Come back next year and notice what's different in the land, and in you.
