Cultural Glenkens: Trad Folk Music Sessions with Claire Mann and special guest Jo Miller

A workshop for musicians who’d like to learn some tunes from Dumfries and Galloway.

Trad Folk Music Sessions

Jo and Claire will teach tunes from local fiddle collections of the last two centuries, and more recent compositions. Come ‘A’ the way to Galloway’ by the ‘Solway Firth’, climb ‘Mullwharchar’ and dance the ‘Annan polka’ on the ‘Ken Brig’!

All instruments welome. To get the most out of the workshop you should be able to play traditional tunes fairly fluently. We’ll work by ear but music will also be provided, so you can choose what works best for you.

Special guest Jo Miller will join us to share some local tunes to take to the session - repertoire learnt from older Glenkens musicians who played at dances and house parties.
