Volunteer needed to join the Pamela Young Trust board
The Pamela Young Trust is a registered Scottish Charity (SC019903) that provides affordable housing in the Glenkens.
The Trust was set up in 1992 by Pam Young, whose family had lived in the Glenkens for generations, as she wanted to give something back to the community she loved. Today’s Trustees continue to have strong connections to the Glenkens and a desire to help those who, for whatever reason, would benefit from living in affordable housing in the Glenkens.
The board currently comprises three Trustees and are looking to recruit a fourth. The term is for a minimum of five years. Responsibilities include attendance at four quarterly meetings per year, alongside active participation via email where necessary. Trustees are not remunerated.
The purpose of the board is to provide governance to the charity:
ensuring our charitable objectives are clear and provide benefit;
ensuring our housing stock remains in good repair and is compliant with all current legislation;
supporting responsible financial management.
All legal services are provided by A B & A Matthews, our investment portfolio is managed externally and we have a Factor who deals with all day-to-day matters relating to our houses and tenants.
This is an exciting time to join the PYT as we have two potential housing projects in the pipeline that would extend our current property portfolio and which would in turn benefit those looking for affordable housing in the Glenkens. We would like to hear from anyone who shares our values, and experience or knowledge in one or more of the following areas would be of particular interest:
Third Sector
community work/citizenship
sustainable property development
lived experience of rental/social housing
