Local YouTuber brings Glenkens walks to life online

Andy Kaye is combining a love for the outdoors and technology to bring local Glenkens trails to a wider audience.

Now living in Edinburgh, Andy was born in Dumfries and raised in the Glenkens and regularly visits the area to see family. He has turned these visits into Stravaiging with Andy - an inspiring project featuring walks around the Glenkens and beyond.

The idea for the channel began with taking the family dog, Loki, for long walks.

"I struggled to describe the exact areas I was walking to my mum, who can’t visit many of these locations anymore," Andy explains. "I started recording short clips to share with her, and it grew into creating full-length walk videos for a broader audience."

The channel features full-length explorations, and shorter 10-minute versions of the new videos, offering practical guides for those seeking clear, visual walking routes. Most videos are centered around the Glenkens, often accompanied by Loki, who eagerly sniffs out the scenery and races through the trails.

Andy also sometimes incorporates local history and folklore into the videos, giving viewers a richer appreciation of the landscapes.
