Bernard Jordan (played by Michael Caine) a Navy veteran misses the boat to attend the 70th anniversary of D-day. But encouraged by his wife, Rene, (played by the late Glenda Jackson) he decides to abscond from the care home and go anyway.
This is a real-life tale and carries its weight of melancholy as well as humour delivered through outstanding performances from its legendary stars.
