Galloway Glens Resources

With the fabulous and hugely loved Galloway Glens Landscape Partnership scheme coming to its conclusion after 5 years, a permanent home was needed for the project reports, research studies and learning resources produced during the scheme.

We are delighted to have been able to help out and below is a selection of the many resources we are now looking after. You can find the full list with links at: Galloway Glens Overview

Threave Landscape Restoration Project – Learning Materials

Videos and learning materials for The National Trust for Scotland’s Threave Landscape Restoration Project, a ground-breaking, 100 year initiative outside Castle Douglas.

Galloway Glens Booklets

Six booklets created during the Galloway Glens Scheme and available to download, following some of the different projects and initiatives undertaken.

Voices from the Glens

A report on the work of Dr John Burns who has been investigating the changing language, voices and words of Galloway since 2019, with audio clips from local participants.

Can You Dig It

A Community Archaeology Programme which provided engaging and educational archaeology activities ranging from digs to citizen research projects. Resources include videos, reports and technical notes.

Go Wild!

Toolkit and reports from the Go Wild project, the aim of which was to foster a deeper connection between children and their local natural
environment, giving them the skills to enjoy and explore the great outdoors.

Business Academy

Presentations from a series of free events for businesses in 2019 in partnership with Business Gateway and funded by the Heritage Lottery.

Together in the Glenkens Winter Programme 2023

Winter Programme 2023/24

Together in the Glenkens have announced their Winter Programme for 2023/24, with a wide range of events and activities, from arts & crafts workshops and fitness classes, to pub quizzes and ballroom dancing.

Don’t miss the St Andrew’s Hop Ceilidh in association with LING, on Saturday 25th November in New Galloway Town Hall. Tickets available here: St Andrew’s Hop Ceilidh Tickets.

South of Scotland Tree Planting Grant Scheme

This grant is for small tree and woodland planting projects which fall below the size eligible for the Forestry Grant Scheme. The maximum grant available is £1,000 per applicant per year. Full details and application forms here: South of Scotland Tree Planting Scheme.

It's time for our Festive Season Glenkens Gazette!

This issue will come out at the start of December and covers both December and January, so it's the ideal place to put all your festive events and activities, shout-outs to customers, friends, family and anyone you would like to wish a happy Christmas and New Year.
